This year saw LCK staff members frock up, put on their black ties and polish their shoes to attend the Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS) Gala along with 900 other guests at the Entertainment Centre.
Being our first year that we attended we did not know what to expect, and we were not disappointed at all. There was lots of glitz, glamour and feather boa’s but behind all of this there was one clear message for the night – to raise much needed funds for the RFDS. The auctions, lucky dips and wine wall all proved to be a big hit for the night with a whopping $300k raised.
Without the generosity of many Australians the RFDS would not be able to reach those who live and work in remote areas all around Australia. This rang true as Shirley a past patient of the RFDS stood up and spoke with such emotion about her time in need and the RFDS coming to her aid. When you hear of these true-life experiences it really defines what an amazing job the RFDS do and how without the support of these wonderful events patients like Shirley could miss out on the vital medical treatment that is needed in remote areas.
This is one event that LCK will continue to support for many years to come.
